Strategy

Is your strategy built on assumptions or evidence?

Our strategy engagements replace internal consensus with external rigour — giving your leadership team a direction they can defend and execute.

What strategy consulting with Rotorualink looks like

We begin every strategy engagement with a structured discovery phase: interviews with key stakeholders, a review of market data, and an honest audit of your organisation's current capabilities versus its stated ambitions. From there, we facilitate a series of focused working sessions — typically three to five — that progressively narrow the strategic choices until a clear priority order emerges. The output is a one-page strategy summary, a 90-day activation plan, and a set of leading indicators your leadership can track weekly. Engagements typically run six to ten weeks, depending on organisational size and complexity.

What you get at the end of a strategy engagement

One-page strategy summary

A single document your entire leadership team can hold in their head and communicate consistently to staff, board, and funders.

90-day activation plan

Concrete actions, named owners, and weekly checkpoints so momentum doesn't stall after the final presentation.

Leading indicator dashboard

Five to eight metrics that tell you, in real time, whether your strategy is working — not just lagging revenue figures.

Stakeholder alignment session

A facilitated session with your board or senior leadership group to surface concerns, align on priorities, and secure genuine commitment.

Where strategy consulting reaches its limits

A strategy engagement will not fix structural funding constraints, regulatory barriers outside your control, or deep cultural dysfunction that requires sustained organisational development work. If market conditions shift significantly mid-engagement, we'll flag that and adapt the approach — but we can't guarantee external stability. We also don't ghostwrite strategies for boards who want a rubber stamp on a decision already made. If leadership has a conclusion in search of a process, we're the wrong fit. What we can do is help organisations that genuinely want to know the truth about their position, and are prepared to act on it.

“The strategy work with Rotorualink in mid-2023 was the first time our senior team had genuinely interrogated our assumptions about the market. Three of our top four priorities changed. That was uncomfortable, but the subsequent twelve months showed the pivot was right.”
