What Rotorualink does, plainly stated
Rotorualink is a management consulting firm based in Wellington, New Zealand. We work with chief executives, senior leadership teams, and boards who face decisions they need to get right the first time — decisions about direction, about how work gets done, and about how to manage significant organisational change. Our four service areas — strategy, operations, transformation, and executive advisory — cover the spectrum from setting direction through to sustained delivery. Clients tend to come to us when internal analysis has stalled, when a critical decision is approaching and the stakes are high, or when previous attempts at change have not delivered the expected results. We're typically working with organisations of between 50 and 500 staff, across the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors. The Wellington location is deliberate: the concentration of government agencies, policy-adjacent organisations, and professional services firms in the capital creates a client base that values analytical discipline and straight-talking advice.
How we work — and where we draw lines
Rotorualink was founded in 2018 with a deliberate constraint: we keep the team small — currently six consultants — so that every engagement is led by a senior practitioner, not staffed by juniors once the partner has sold the work. Every consultant at Rotorualink has held a substantive leadership role outside consulting, which means we understand the difference between a recommendation that looks good on paper and one that's actually implementable given real budget cycles, real politics, and real staff capacity. In six years we have completed over forty engagements across sectors including central government, regional local government, financial services, aged care, and tertiary education. We are transparent about the limits of what we offer: we don't implement technology, we don't practise law or financial advice, and we don't run recruitment processes. When an engagement reveals that specialist capability is needed, we name it clearly and help you find it. Results in transformation and strategy work depend on sustained executive commitment — and we'll tell you early if we think that commitment is at risk.
