Advisory

Who challenges your thinking before a decision becomes a commitment?

Our advisory retainers give executive teams a structured, agenda-free space to pressure-test ideas, navigate risk, and think more clearly under pressure.

What executive advisory looks like in practice

An advisory retainer with Rotorualink provides a named senior consultant who meets with you — or your leadership team — on a regular cadence: typically fortnightly, for 90 minutes per session. The agenda is yours to set. Some clients use sessions to prepare for board presentations; others work through a recurring set of operational metrics; others treat it as a structured sounding board for decisions they're not yet ready to socialise internally. We also provide asynchronous support between sessions — a written response to a question or a quick framework when a situation needs fast analysis. Retainers run on a rolling three-month minimum and can be paused with 30 days' notice.

What advisory clients tell us they value most

No internal agenda

Your Rotorualink adviser has no stake in your internal politics. That independence is exactly what makes the conversations productive — you get a read unfiltered by hierarchy or self-interest.

Consistent cadence

Fortnightly structured sessions create a rhythm that sharpens executive thinking over time. Clients consistently report that the regular discipline of articulating priorities improves decision quality.

Confidential and contained

Advisory conversations stay within the retainer relationship. We don't share your challenges with other clients, and we don't use your situation as a case study without explicit written permission.

What advisory is not

An advisory retainer is not a substitute for specialist legal, financial, or technical advice in regulated domains. If a question requires a lawyer, an auditor, or a licensed financial adviser, we'll tell you and help you find the right resource. Advisory is also not a management consulting engagement — we won't be running projects, delivering reports, or managing work streams under a retainer. If a conversation reveals a deeper engagement is warranted, we'll scope that separately. Finally, advisory works best when the executive is genuinely open to challenge. If the goal is validation rather than interrogation, a retainer probably isn't the right format.

“I've had an advisory retainer with Rotorualink for fourteen months. The most valuable thing isn't any single session — it's the accumulated context my adviser has built about our organisation. By month four, the conversations had a depth and directness that would take years to develop with a new adviser.”
